How to Get Involved
The Psychology Research Think Tank is committed to making it easy for UA students to get involved. Whether it's general membership, first author status, or the Presidency, we keep the process simple.
General Membership
All UA students who attend at least one Think Tank meeting a semester are eligible for membership. After attending their first meeting, students can request addition to the Think Tank mySOURCE page by contacting our President, Chris Rasmussen. There are no costs of any kind associated with holding membership.
Students are advised that, while not necessary for membership, addition to mySOURCE is required for voting on official club business, including Executive Board elections and major changes to the Constitution.
For students interested in the Think Tank, we operate an official GroupMe page that all UA students are free to join. This is done to spare students the difficulty of unsubscribing from an email list if they lose interest in the club.
Research
Most Think Tank members join to eventually get onto a research study. Fortunately, we make this process simple.
Members who attend meetings with regularity are more likely to be secondary authors on studies. Combine that with speaking with our faculty sponsors before and after meetings to express your interest, and you will increase your chances of getting on a study. If you attend meetings and make yourself heard, you can expect addition to a research study in the near future.
For members that want to be first authors on a study, be sure to submit your study proposals to the Think Tank Prophet, Gabriel Sacasa. More information can be found below.
Leadership
Interested in becoming an Executive Officer of the Think Tank? Being a leader of a large research club is a great opportunity for students building their resumes. Fortunately, we use a simple, no-nonsense election process that sees the most qualified members lead us.
There are six Executive Officers, and between them, they fulfill the roles required for a growing research organization. Unlike some organizations, the Think Tank does not hold elections on a regular basis, but only for upcoming vacancies.
For more information about the election process and how to become a candidate, see our page about the Executive Board.
